My Reggio Emilia Library
updated October 5, 2024

Where to start?

For people who are new to Reggio Emilia I recommend Beautiful Stuff! Learning with Found Materials, Bringing Learning to Life, and Theater Curtain: The Ring of Transformations (well worth tracking down).

I also recommend watching An Amusement Park for Birds, available in its entirety for free on YouTube!

My copy of Beautiful Stuff! is signed by Cathy Weisman Topal, and I was privileged to work with her, student teaching at Fort Hill in 1998 when I was at Smith College. I also worked with Lella Gandini when I was there; I was a Student Fellow and she was a Faculty Fellow during the inaugural year of the Khan Liberal Arts Institute. The 1998-99 topic was "Exploring the Ecologies of Childhood."

My library of Reggio Emilia books, in order by year of publication:

Many people also consider the Loose Parts series to be Reggio-inspired:
